November shows

Two fun shows coming up within the next couple weeks, in the LA and NYC area….

First up at The Hive Gallery, “Master Blasters of Sculpture”, opening November 5th.

I am pleased to have been asked to participate in this show, given the gathering of artists featured in “Master Blasters” boasts a powerful lineup….Simon Lee, Beth Robinson (Strangedolls), Chet Zar, Nathan Cartwright, Heather Henson are but a few.

Next up, MF Gallery’s annual Toy Show on November 12. Lots of affordable handmade toys and dolls by artists Sheri Debow, Esther Verchoor and Christine Benjamen, just to name a few. I have a new crop of off-kilter bunny wands (some teaser pics to come) that will be on display and up for sale, as well!

Tuesday Tunes: Bobtown

I have the good fortune of being friends with some incredibly talented people who never fail to inspire. One of those friends, Karen Dahlstrom is an accomplished musician who performs with Bobtown, which is best summarized by American String Conspiracy: “Bobtown reinvents American choral music for the 21st Century to create a unique and compelling blend of voices and folk instruments that move gracefully between elegy and celebration.” Karen is also celebrating the recent release of her EP Gem State (with album artwork created by yet another talented friend of mine, Becky Munich).  Filled with original folk songs of a miner’s bride, street fightin’ and summers in Idaho, it’s an album not to miss, especially if you are fond of the folk and Americana genre.

To listen to a preview of Gem State and purchase (and quite frankly, with a price of $4.95, how can you not?), hop on over to CD Baby, iTunes or Amazon!

Below, “My Body is a Cage” by Arcade Fire, covered by Bobtown.

October Opening Nights

As October ushers in cool weather and a change of color in the trees, it is the month of thrills and chills, darkness, death and things that go bump in the night. What better than to visit a couple of galleries offering up art celebrating those very things?

Tonight  Rendition Gallery in Colorado reveals “It’s Alive!” from 2-10pm. A show filled with dark delights, you’ll find my bleeding eye bunny wands nestled amongst other wonderfully creepy works by Emma Overman, Russell Dickerson, Adam Pratt, John Pinkerton (Food Network), Brynn Metheney, Vanessa Compton, Jennifer Meyer, Den Ramos, Kimberley MacAulay, Matt Anderson, Daniel Ibanez, Jeff Herndon, Rachel Ann, Rolfe Bautista, Bryan A. Collins, and more.

On Saturday, October 8th, beginning at 7pm, Cactus Gallery in Los Angeles opens up the doors for its 7th annual Dias de los Muertos show, “Muerto En Vida”. My newest creation, “Ana”  (below) will be there sharing space with other beautiful creations by Ulla Anobile, Lacey Bryant, Kurtis Rykovich, Alex Alferov, as well as many others.
